While granting bail to them, the high court had cited lack of notice to the accused on grounds of arrest. Such a notice is seriously considered only in Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act cases, and not required in murder case, a police officer said.

"The accused sought bail on grounds that statements of eyewitnesses are different. It is very obvious that eyewitnesses will give their statements based on what they saw. One witness saw the assault, another saw the accused entering the parking yard in Pattangere, while another noticed the accused disposing of the body. These are issues that have to come up during the trial, not during the bail petition," the officer said.

Darshan availed bail on health grounds, which haven't been met; he hasn't undergone surgery but is only availing physiotherapy. "We have considered this point too,' the officer added.

Renukaswamy, the victim, was kidnapped from Chitradurga and murdered in the parking yard AT Pattanagere on June 8, 2024 after he allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, Darshan's girlfriend and accused no. 1 in the case.
