The arrested is Pervez Ahmed alias Farvez. According to police, Pervez was nabbed near Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) railway station in Majestic area on Sunday. Police are tightlipped about his antecedents.

Pervez is a member of Mehdi Foundation International (MFI) in India. He allegedly provided the Pakistani nationals help in procuring ID proofs such as Aadhaar cards, voter IDs and passports.

Jigani police received information about Pervez when they caught Rashid Ali Siddiqui, alias Siddakki, alias Shankar Sharma, 48, his wife Ayesha, alias Asha Rani, 38, her parents Hanif Mohammed, alias Ram Babu Sharma, 73, and Rubina, alias Rani, 61, from their residence at Rajapura village near Jigani on Sept 29.

According to police, Pervez is an Indian national. He has contacts with MFI members in other countries and receives information about Pakistani nationals who want to shift to India.

During interrogation, Rashid informed police that he had married Ayesha, a Bangladeshi. After Muslim religious leaders attacked him in Pakistan, he illegally immigrated to Bangladesh and stayed there for three years with his wife and her parents and worked as a preacher with MFI. When he was attacked by religious leaders in Bangladesh, Pervez contacted him over phone and asked him to come to India.

Accordingly, he, along with his family members, came to Delhi through Malda in West Bengal with the help of agents. Pervez helped him stay near Delhi. Pervez also provided them with Aadhaar cards, passports, driving licences, and PAN cards. They changed their names. He worked as a preacher and encouraged people to watch the preachings of religious leaders on Alra TV.

On Oct 3, Jigani police arrested Syed Tariq alias Chouhan, 53, his wife Anila Tariq, alias Deepali Chouhan, 48, and their 17-year-old daughter from Nelagadaranahalli. Pervez is said to have helped Tariq's family too in procuring documents.

A senior officer said Pervez is being interrogated about MFI funding the Pakistani nationals staying illegally in India.
