BENGALURU: A gang of three miscreants on Friday hacked a rowdy to death in front of Phoenix Mall on Whitefield Main Road.
Manjunath alias Manja, a rowdy-sheeter in Marathahalli police station, was riding his Bullet with a woman when three men armed with machetes attacked him. He left the vehicle on the road and tried to free. But the gang caught him and hacked him to death. The woman fled from the spot in fear, police said.
“Two eyewitnesses said there were three killers. They escaped leaving the weapons near Manjunath’s body,” said MN Anucheth, deputy commissioner of police (Whitefield division). Manja’s rival Rohith is the prime suspect.
The three assailants fled from the area on a scooter parked nearby. All wore helmets and only the rider’s face could be seen clearly, an officer said. Eyewitnesses have clicked their photos, he added.
