at the lung space needs to be enhanced, adding they do not want any 'development' activity to happen which can commercialize the space. "There have been incidents of mobile phones and chains being snatched but they are not getting reported. We need better security for walkers," he told STOI later.

Mayor Goutham Kumar agreed that there were places in Cubbon Park which needed better lighting. "Cubbon Park doesn't need the sanctioned amount of Rs 40 crore. We are interested in its maintenance and upgrading without spoiling its beauty or greenery," he added.

People present at the meeting urged Smart City officials not to establish a separate children's park and instead develop the existing one at Bal Bhavan. They also said officials must focus on planting more trees and building a boundary wall. They sought a ban on vehicular movement inside the park.
