Bengaluru: Cop who saved stabbed woman honoured by state police chief

A police inspector in Bengaluru donated his blood to save a stabbed victim has been honoured for going beyond the call duty to save the victim.

BENGALURU: A police inspector in Bengaluru, who donated his blood to save a stabbed victim, has been honoured. Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Neelamani N Raju and city police commissioner T Suneel Kumar on Saturday honoured Girinagar police inspector C A Siddalingaiah for the commendable work he had done to save the victim's life.

Forty-year-old Tanuja, a Dwarakanagar resident and teacher with Eshwari Primary and High School in Hosakerehalli, was attacked by Shekar, 42, a Hosakerehalli resident, around 4.30pm when she was returning home from school on Thursday. Siddalingaiah who was patrolling on the same stretch rushed to the woman's help with his subordinates and shifted her to hospital. The doctors who wanted to conduct surgery wanted AB+ve blood which Siddalingaiah donated to save Tanuja. The doctors says that the woman is out of danger. Neelamani N Raju after getting to know of this act personally called the officer to her chamber and gave a certificate of commendation and a cash reward of Rs 20,000. She also mentioned acts like this brings out the best of Karnataka police and this officer is an example to others. Suneel Kumar T lauded the humanitarian act of this officer in a press meet and rewarded C A Siddaliangaiah, SI K L Vinay, ACP Valipasha and the whole team under the leadership of DCP South with a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for their combined efforts and inspector's action in particular for going beyond their call of duty.
