It’s been a tough week, what with all the hassles that came with demonetization. So, Bengalureans were all ready for a laugh when they turned up for the comedy festival that was held in the city recently. There were quite a few comics from the city, like

Sundeep Rao

,

Sanjay Manaktala

and

Satish Perumal

, who got people rolling in the aisles. There were also out-of-towners like Varun Thakur, Amit Tandon and

Neville Shah

, who took the stage and had people guffawing at their takes on middle-class Indians, the pitfalls of having children, and the fundamental differences between boys and girls, respectively. The evening ended with a performance by

Alien Chutney

, which is fronted by Vir Das. The quintet got people singing along to their catchy track about instant noodles, grooving to a tune about how desis vacation in Goa, and headbanging to a metal-inspired song about Game of Thrones — and took the mickey out of a couple of audience members in between.
