BENGALURU: The owner of a seven-storey under-construction building that collapsed in Bengaluru's Babusalapya - Muniraju Reddy, and his son, Mohan Reddy - are currently on the run, police said on Wednesday.

An FIR was filed based on a complaint from one Mohammed Arshad, a relative of Harman, one of the deceased.

Hennur police registered the case against Muniraju, his son Mohan, and others involved, said D Devaraju, deputy commissioner of police (East).

The Reddys, who live in Malleshwaram and are originally from Andhra Pradesh, are being actively sought by the police.

The case has been registered under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Act, and the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.

At least five people were killed and five others injured after an under-construction building collapsed in Bengaluru's Babusapalya on Tuesday during heavy rains, police said on Wednesday.

Deputy commissioner of police (East), D Devaraja S, stated, "So far, 18 laborers have been found, and three more are believed to be trapped under the debris."

The deceased laborers have been identified as Harman (26), Tripal (35), and Mohammed Sahil (19) from Bihar, as well as Sathya Raju (25) and Shankar.
