BENGALURU: Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two people with blank pistols and bullets in Suddaguntepalya. The accused didn't have a licence to possess such arms and used to supply them for Sandalwood movies.
Suddaguntepalya police said they recovered 11 blank pistols, 10 firearms, seven stun guns and 76 blank bullets from Mohammed Junaid, 38, a resident of HBR Layout, and Mohammed Tabrez Ahmed, 45, a resident of Gurappanapalya.
Such arms are usually used in movies.
Police said one needs a licence to buy blank firearms and the accused didn't have one. Though the duo has been in the business for about 15 years, they were apparently unaware of the requirement of a license.
The duo claimed they supplied arms for Kannada blockbuster Airavatha, starring Darshan, Salaga starring Duniya Vijay and Robert which again features Darshan. Joint commissioner of police (crime) Sandeep Patil said they got the dummy guns from Mumbai. These weapons can be misused for threatening people and committing offences.
Police have registered a case under Section 25 (modifying weapon).
