Belgaum election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Jagadish Shettar wins against Cong's Mrinal R Hebbalkar

NEW DELHI: Belgaum, a prominent constituency in Karnataka, holds significant political importance due to its diverse population and rich history.
As one of the 28 parliamentary seats in the state, Belgaum Lok Sabha constituency is categorized as a General seat. It encompasses a part of the Belgaum district. The constituency boasts a literacy rate of 63.85 per cent, indicating a substantial level of education among its populace.

Jagadish Shettar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins Belgaum constituency in Karnataka by a margin of 762,029 votes.

The third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, held on May 7, witnessed Belgaum constituency's participation in the polling process. The voter turnout reached an impressive 71.49 per cent. This year's key contenders are Jagadeesh Shettar from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Mrunal Ravindra Hebbalkar from Indian National Congress (INC).

Key Candidates:
Mrinal R Hebbalkar, representing the Indian National Congress (INC), and Jagadish Shettar from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are among those whose vote totals are currently listed as not available (NA).

Ravi Shivappa Padasalag, an independent candidate, is also in the running, but his vote count remains undisclosed. Another candidate, Prajaakeeya Mallappa Chogala (Prem), is participating in the election, although his party affiliation and vote details have not been specified.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the voter turnout was 67.43 per cent. Angadi Suresh Channabasappa from BJP won the elections with 7,61,991 votes, followed by Dr Sadhunavar from INC who got 3,70,687 votes.

In 2014, BJP candidate, Angadi Suresh Channabasappa won the Lok Sabha election with 5,54,417 votes, followed by INC candidate Laxmi R. Hebbalkar who got 4,78,557 votes.

In the Belgaum parliamentary constituency, as per the 2011 Census, SC voters are around 9.7 per cent, ST voters around 7 per cent, and Muslim voters approximately 12.7 per cent. Rural voters make up about 58.8 per cent, while urban voters are around 41.2 per cent.
