BANGALORE: With the election to the standing committees completed on Thursday, BBMP is likely to table its budget for the year 2011-12 shortly.
BBMP council conducted elections to 11 standing committees on Thursday. The chairpersons are: A N Shivakumar (Chickpet), accounts; S S Prasad (Narayanapura), appeals; Anjanappa (Kengeri), horticulture; J H Ramachandra (Rajarajeshwarinagar), major works; Krishnappa (Rajajinagar), administrative reforms; Mahesh Babu (Lakkasandra), social justice; M Roopa (Bilekahalli), markets; C K Ramamurthy (Pattabhiramanagar), town planning;
Mohan Kumar (Govindarajanagar), ward works; Ramesh Babu (Uttarahalli), education; Manjunath Raju (Malleswaram), taxation and finance.
Election was not conducted for health committee as Thimmanjaiah had petitioned before the high court saying that committee must enjoy one-year term as stated in the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act. He was earlier member of the Public Health Committee. The HC had directed the BBMP not to disturb his membership. Thus B S Manjunath Reddy (Madiwala) will continue to be the chairperson for Public Health Committee until further directives from high court.
