BENGALURU: If you are one of those who struggle every day to navigate pothole-riddled roads of the city and wait for BBMP to set things right, digest this: The Palike has not found even a single pothole in five of the eight civic zones! As per the Palike’s latest data, the city has only 536 potholes in areas like Bengaluru south, Rajarajeshwarinagar and Yelahanka.
Also, roads in Mahadevapura, Bommanahalli, Dasarahalli, Bengaluru east and Bengaluru west are free of craters. TOI has a copy of the latest pothole data.
“We’ve filled all potholes and will complete work before we update the court on Friday,” said a BBMP official. The high court had pulled up the agency for failing to make the city roads motorable. Following this, BBMP the undertook a massive pothole-filling drive. As per the civic body, there were over 25,000 potholes before the court intervened.
The BBMP’s exercise came under the scanner after the court-appointed committee submitted a preliminary report stating pothole-filling was not being done scientifically. The officials had claimed that several roads came under the defect liability period and the onus was on contractors to maintain them. Of the 1,900km of arterial and sub-arterial roads, 425km were under DLP.
