<div class="section1"><div class="Normal"><script language="javascript">doweshowbellyad=0; </script><br />BANGALORE: Despite all odds like creaking infrastructure and the looming flight of IT business to other destinations, Bangalore will still be the country''s largest job creator this year.<br /><br />TOI estimates based on data from various companies and recruitment firms indicate that the booming IT and BPO industries will add around 65,000 new jobs in Bangalore alone.

A Wipro spokesperson says the company would base around 5,000 people in its Kolkata facility over the next few years. <br /><br />Says Gautam Sinha, CEO of TVA Infotech, a recruitment firm, "Around 4,000 experienced professionals are hired in Bangalore per month, which is the highest in the country."<br /><br />BPO/ITES: In BPO, Bangalore will add around 30,000 jobs to its existing base of one lakh agents. The top recruiters in this space will be Accenture, Convergys, IBM, 24/7 Customer, Infosys/Progeon, HP and Oracle. <br /><br />Interestingly, IT vendors like HP, Oracle and Microsoft are creating thousands of tech support jobs in the city for their captive requirements. <br /><br />Accenture, for example, is expected to hire 3,500 people for its BPO operations out of its total 5,000 hires for 2004. The US-based BPO giant Convergys had said it would recruit around 12,000 in India.<br /><br /></div> </div><div class="section3"><div class="Normal"><br />Industry sources say it is going slow on the target and may end up adding 1,000 new jobs to its Bangalore centre. In BPO, Bangalore receives topmost priority for voice-based work,while Chennai is the most sought after location for data transactions.<br /><br />IT services: In IT services, the Bangalore magic will come into focus with around 35,000 new jobs. Infy is expected to pitch in with around 3,000 new jobs in IT services. <br /><br />Wipro''s contribution, despite Premji''s concerns over his company''s expansions in the city, may match Infy. TCS, though riding high on Chennai, is expected to add 2,000 more jobs in the city.<br /><br />Hyderabad-headquartered Satyam has identified Bangalore for growing its embedded, telecom and SAP businesses. It will add 1,000 more people to its operations here. Second-tier IT firms like iGate and DSL are expected to hire 1,000 each in the city.<br /><br />Semiconductor engg services: "Bangalore has become the largest base for chip design and testing in the mobile domain," says B S Murthy, CEO of Human Capital.<br /><br />The chip giant Intel and Motorola are both expected to hire 1,000 persons each in 2004.</div> </div>
