Bengaluru bandh: All your questions answered

NEW DELHI: Bengaluru witnessed a varied reaction to the state-wide bandh, organized by various groups in protest against the sharing of Cauvery water with Tamil Nadu. There was a substantial police presence observed at key locations such as Vidhana Soudha, Town Hall, Freedom Park, the Railway station, and Kempegowda International Airport.

Here are answers to all queries related to bandh's impact in Bengaluru:
Is Namma Metro operating today?
Metro services are not affected due to the bandh but morning hours saw fewer people travelling via it. However, no metro services will be there on Kengeri & Mysuru Road route and KR Pura & Garudacharpalya in view of Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) inspection between Challaghatta and Kengeri.
Are BMTC buses available in Bengaluru?
BMTC, KSRTC and Metro are running in Bengaluru but with fewer commuters. Earlier the operators had said that bus operations would depend on the prevailing situation in the respective area.
Are emergency services available in Bengaluru?
Emergency service-related vehicles, including ambulances, pharmaceutical vehicles, and other essential goods carriers, will remain operational. Likewise, hospitals and medical stores will continue to operate without disruption.
Are malls, markets and hotels open in Bengaluru today?
All shops, commercial establishments, and industries are closed. Movie theatres in the city are also closed. Bengaluru hotels have also decided to extend support to bandh and will remain closed for the day.
Are Bengaluru flights cancelled today?
While air services are not closed from KIA, 44 flights to & from Bengaluru airport have been cancelled. Domestic carriers like IndiGo airlines and Akasa Air cancelled flights allegedly due to poor response. Among the flight cancelled at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), 22 were outgoing and 22 were incoming flights.
Section 144 is imposed in Bengaluru today?
The imposition of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which restricts gatherings of four or more individuals in a designated area, will continue in Bengaluru until Friday midnight, it was imposed from Thursday midnight.
Are schools and colleges shut today in Bengaluru?
