Bengaluru Bandh News Live Updates: After transport minister R Ramalinga Reddy assured the private transport unions of trying to meet most of their demands, unions are said to have called off the bandh. Of the 30 demands, the minister has agreed to 27 demands. The decision has been conveyed by S Nataraj Sharma, president of Federation of Karnataka State Private Transport Associations. Bengaluru bandh news: BMRCL to increase frequency of Namma Metro operations to manage crowd

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited is prepared to increase the frequency of Namma Metro operations to manage the anticipated surge in demand. “During peak hours, trains will run every five minutes, and on Monday, these peakhour operations will be extended to accommodate the public. The hope is these efforts will help mitigate the impact of the strike, offering some relief to commuters and students affected by the disruption,” BMRCL executi-ve director Shankar AS said.

Bangalore Bandh Today: Private transporters' observe bandh in Bengaluru, security beefed up

Security has been beefed up across the city in view of a day-long 'bandh' called by the Federation of the Karnataka State Private Transport Associations on Monday to press for their various demands with the police warning strict action against those indulging in any kind of mischief. Owing to bandh, lakhs of private vehicles including autos, taxis, maxi cabs, goods vehicles and corporate buses would stay off the roads, officials of the Federation said.The Federation comprises a total of 32 private transport associations, and most of the private transport services are unlikely to be available till Monday midnight. Bengaluru traffic police issued a traffic advisory for the public to plan accordingly after Karnataka State Private Vehicles Owner Association’s call for ‘Bengaluru Bandh’ on Monday.“There might be disruption in operation of taxis, maxi cabs, private buses and auto rickshaws. Therefore, all road users are advised to use alternative roads and plan their travel accordingly,” the advisory stated.As per the advisory, the police have asked the public to avoid KG Road, Sheshadri Road, GT Road and roads around Freedom Park and Majestic Bus stand. While several schools decided to remain shut many opted for online classes, especially for higher grades. However, schools that rely on their own fleet of buses have decided to stay open.Schools said that they could seamlessly switch over to the virtual mode with the experience they have had in the past. Some universities have delayed their exams, whereas several others have not. Maharani Cluster University has decided to postpone all exams scheduled for September 11, with new examination dates to be announced later.
