BANGALORE: An autorickshaw driver was crushed under his own vehicle after it toppled on Kempe Gowda Road early on Thursday.
Sudhakar, 24, was on his way to a hotel to collect garbage when the incident occurred. His cleaner and helper Arun, who was also in the auto, said a tool box fell off the vehicle onto the road. Sudhakar tried to pick it up even as he continued to drive, police said.
He lost control over the autorickshaw, which toppled.
Sudhakar sustained severe head injuries and died in Victoria Hospital.
Bangalore: A goods vehicle mowed down a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler in front of his house in Kalkere, off Old Madras Road, East Bangalore, on Thursday morning.
The victim, Lakshmikanth, was the son of construction labourers from
Andhra Pradesh who worked at a site in Kalkere. The family lived in a makeshift shed there.
The toddler was playing in front of the site when he was mowed down by the speeding goods vehicle. The driver is absconding.
Bangalore: A 23-year-old youth was killed early on Thursday after the motorcycle he was riding rammed the parapet wall of Hebbal flyover and fell over 30 feet below.
Joseph Gerald, who was riding the bike, was killed, while pillion rider Sunil Subramanya, 24, was injured.
Residents of Chikkabanavara, off Tumkur Road, the duo worked with a private firm on MG Road and were returning home after work past midnight.
Joseph was speeding on the flyover and hit the boundary wall, police said. He succumbed to injuries early on Thursday while Sunil Subramanya is critical.
