Atul Subhash suicide case: Father of techie questions bail to wife, in-laws; raises concern for 'missing grandson'
NEW DELHI: Pawan Kumar Modi, father of Atul Subhash who died by suicide last month, expressed concerns over the conditional bail granted to his son’s wife Nikhita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, and brother Anurag Singhania.
Modi also voiced apprehensions about the well-being of his four-year-old grandson, who remains untraceable.
“Bail is granted under legal process, but they shouldn’t have been granted bail. I am worried about my grandson and where he is. We have received some information from the Karnataka police about our grandson... The mother has no love for the child. She is using him as an ATM to extort money,” Modi said.
Modi also reiterated his plea for his grandson’s safety and urged authorities to intervene. “We hope the police will locate the child soon. He deserves a better environment,” he said, emphasizing the emotional strain on the family.
A Bengaluru city court on Saturday granted conditional bail to Nikhita, Nisha, and Anurag, who were arrested on charges of abetting Atul’s suicide.
They had been in judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison since December 16.
Police sources confirmed that the trio is likely to walk free by Monday afternoon once the court order is processed.
Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old executive at an automobile firm, ended his life on December 9 in his Munnekolalu apartment in Marathahalli.
In a 24-page death note and a video message, Atul accused his wife and in-laws of harassment, including filing eight false police complaints and demanding ₹3 crore to settle a divorce case, along with Rs 30 lakh for access to his son.
The complaint filed by Atul’s younger brother, Bikas Modi, led to the arrest of the three accused.
