BENGALURU: A 43-year-old artist alleged that she faced anxious moments on Tuesday after her car brushed against an MUV and its occupants harassed her and made her pay up for the damage caused to the car on Lake Road in Bellandur. Meanwhile, a traffic police constable smiled at her and passersby remained mute spectators even as she was being tormented, she alleged.
Incidentally, this was the second time the woman was facing such a situation at the same spot in 20 days.
“Both times, I was apologetic, particularly when my car brushed against the MUV,” said the artist, who lives in Mantri Espana, Bellandur.
According to the artist, both incidents happened at a curve on Lake Road, where, for a short distance, the road becomes one-way. “In the first incident, I was driving slowly on the left lane when a biker shouted at me. I did not understand why he was shouting. However, I guessed he was indicating that my car brushed against his two-wheeler,” the artist, who declined to be identified, told TOI. However, the second incident was more horrifying, she recalled.
“By mistake, I had entered the one-way in the wrong direction. As vehicles were coming from the opposite direction, I slowed down my car to take a U-turn,” she said. It was then that her car brushed against the MUV with three occupants, including a woman.
“They alighted and began abusing me. They demanded Rs 15,000 for removing the dent,” she said, adding: “I was apologetic but they did not pay heed. My friend and I gave Rs 2,500 to them.” The artist added that a constable stood watching and smiled at her.
