After three years of waiting, Bengaluru’s Manyata roads get a fix
Bengaluru: Roads in Manyata Residency and Manyata Tech Park, which were awaiting repair for three years, have finally been fixed. The roads in the mixed-use development are used not only by people commuting to the tech park and residential locality but also by thousands of motorists travelling from areas like Hegde Nagar and Thanisandra Main Road to access Outer Ring Road (ORR). They had to negotiate potholes and bad patches on several spots on the road. The roadwork, which commenced on Jan 25, was completed in two months. With a budget of Rs 8 crore, the project covered 42 roads, spanning 7.3km. This development directly benefited 1,500 residents and significantly, improved commuting conditions for over 10,000 travellers in localities beyond the mixed-use enclave. While the project has been widely appreciated, motorists are lamenting that the state of the ORR service road leading to Manyata Tech Park is still pathetic. Several residents expressed gratitude for the asphalting of roads, but scepticism persists regarding its durability. X user Tiger Ramesh remarked that the work appears to be a "cheap top-up" that may not last beyond a few months, promising to reassess it after ten weeks. Another user, Ramesh, questioned if an independent team had inspected the roads before project completion.Another regular road user, Anoop, welcomed the relief the new roads have provided, but urged authorities to extend similar attention to the roads leading to the gates.Revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda, under whose Byatarayanapura assembly constituency the area falls, said: "Manyata Residency was recently handed over from BDA to BBMP. The roads were in a bad condition. On the request of residents, road development was taken up. These roads are used by thousands of people who work in Manyata Tech park, other commuters in the area and residents of Manyata. The road development will benefit them all."
