Vijay, popularly known as
Sanchari Vijay, breathed his last at a private hospital in the city in the wee hours of Tuesday. The 38-year-old actor had sustained serious injuries when the motorcycle he was riding pillion met with an accident on Saturday.
On Monday, doctors treating Vijay at Apollo Hospital had declared him brain dead.
Vijay's family announced they shall donate his organs.
Vijay was hospitalised for injuries he suffered after the bike he was riding pillion skidded at L&T South City, JP Nagar 7th Phase late Saturday night. His friend Naveen PS, 42, who was riding the bike, also sustained injuries. The bike hit an electric pole before coming to a halt.
Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa said the actor's final rights will be held with Police honours.
"I am thankful to his family, who came forward to donate the organs, I offer my condolences to talented artist Sanchari Vijay," said Yediyurappa.
