Activist files plaint with ED, alleges Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah involved in money-laundering
MYSURU: Activist Snehamayi Krishna has approached ED seeking action against CM Siddaramaiah, alleging he and his family members were involved in money-laundering.
In a complaint to the joint director, Enforcement Directorate, Bengaluru, Friday, the activist sought probe into alleged misuse of official powers by Siddaramaiah and the allotment of 14 sites by Muda in favour of Parvathi, his wife, and the scam by Muda officials.
On the plea for an ED probe, the CM said: "What will happen if somebody files a complaint to the ED? There is a legal system, and the officials will follow the rules." He said Lokayukta cops are probing the Muda scam and he doesn't want "to interfere with it".
'Land grabbing caused loss to state exchequer'
Krishna mentioned the commission of an offence under the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act. He alleged CM's wife Parvathi has illegally made gains of Rs 55.8 crore through site allotment in Mysuru.
The activist said the CM's acts were a criminal breach of trust committed by ordering denotification of the land which was vested with the state. "The illegal acts of land-grabbing by him and his family have caused a loss to the state exchequer to the tune of several crores of rupees to MUDA, which had spent a substantial amount for the formation of sites in the land in question. The facts in the case expose the blatant misuse of public office by Siddaramaiah and his family members. They have blatantly misused their official positions to favour a few influential and highly placed individuals and have also thereby caused wrongful gain to them and wrongful loss to the MUDA and the public at large," he alleged in the complaint.
The CM claimed he does not know about MUDA petitioner Snehamayi Krishna and two cases filed against him in Chamarajanagar and Nanjangud.
