BANGALORE: They may be short but what they portray is certain to leave a long-lasting impact. The 4th Bangalore International Short Film Festival slated to kick off at Suchitra Film Society on August 22 will showcase some of the best fictional works from across the globe.
Theatreperson Prakash Belawadi on Tuesday said 200 films have been selected from the 500 entries received from 50 countries.

"30% of the filmmakers are women. The festival will have a student competition section (India) where 10 movies will be screened. Arivu (Kannada), directed by Vidya Sagar Suresh, features in the list. A special section called Karnataka Korner (competition films) has been dedicated to movies shot in Karnataka - both in Kannada and other languages," he said.
The festival will offer the best short film packages from BAFTA (UK), InterFilm (Berlinale, Germany) in collaboration with the Goethe Institut, Swiss Nex Films (Switzerland) and Indian Film Project. Some of the films include His New Hands (Sudhanshu Saria), Made of Stone (Sebastian Olivari), Inter Café - Night (Adhiraj Bose), Makhmal (Faraz Ali) and Tamash (Satyanshu and Devanshu Singh), said festival director Anand Varadaraj.
N Shashidhar, society president, said the objective is to develop a film culture among Bangaloreans and guide budding filmmakers. The movies will be of 30-minute duration or less.
