8 officials raided in Karnataka, assets worth Rs 36crore unearthed

Bengaluru: At least 25-30 boxes of different food samples stored in two refrigerators were seized when Lokayukta police raided the office of Nagaraj JS, designated officer, food safety and quality department, Davanagere, Thursday.The boxes were not numbered or mentioned in the records, Lokayukta sources said. As a rule, details of the boxes should be entered in the records.Nagaraj was among eight govt officials raided by Lokayukta in a disproportionate assets case. In a press release, Lokayukta valued Nagaraj's assets at Rs 6.1 crore, including Rs 94 lakh worth of ornaments. Lokayukta police found the total value of the assets of the eight officials to be over Rs 36 crore.Among the other officials raided are: TD Nanjundappa, chief engineer, panchayat raj engineer department, Panchayat Raj Bhavan, Ananda Rao Circle, Bengaluru: Assets — Rs 8.5 crore; HB Kalleshappa, executive engineer, BBMP, Bengaluru: Assets — Rs 6.5 crore; Nagaraj G, assistant executive engineer, Bescom, KSSIDC Building, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru: Assets — Rs 2.2 crore; Jagannath, project implementation unit, State Highway Development Project, KR Circle, Bengaluru: Assets — Rs 4.6 crore; Jagadeesh P, general duty medical officer, PHC, Tavarekere, Sira, Tumakuru: Assets — Rs 3.1 crore.
