BELLARY: Deputy commissioner S.N. Jayaram has recommended to the district health officer the suspension of 63 health assistants for staying away from their workplaces despite the warning.
Presiding over Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting here on Friday, the DC said he had ordered the ZP administrative deputy secretaries to visit all hospitals in the district and submit a report on their conditions.

He also directed the DDPI to suspend the headmaster of government high school in Srirampur Colony for ''poor performance''. The school registered a 16.6 per cent pass - the lowest in the district.
Jayaram also asked the taluk panchayat CEOs to visit all the learning centres opened under the ''Neo-literate Programme'' and initiate action against the erring adult education promoters.
He said 38 drinking water projects taken up under various heads will be "energised" soon. He directed the KPTC chief engineer to complete the energising process in all the drinking water projects by this month-end.
K.S.L. Swamy, ZP vice-president, Doodha Nayak, agriculture and industries standing committee chairman, and Parvathamma, social justice standing committee chairman, were present.
