The arrested are Giriyappa Gowda, owner of Seetha Ice Creams that makes the popular 'Dairy Rich ice cream', his wife Seethamma, sons G Rajesh and G Vijay, and Tasmai Shetty. Rajesh's wife Aishwarya allegedly died by suicide on October 26.

The suspects were stopped on Mumbai-Pune highway, about 100km before the megapolis, and detained on Thursday. After being produced before a local court in Bengaluru on Friday, they were taken into police custody.

Aishwarya was found hanging from the ceiling at her natal home in Basaveshwara Layout, Vijayanagar. Her mother, Usha Subramanya, filed a police complaint against nine persons accusing them of abetting suicide by harassing Aishwarya over dowry and other issues. In a four-page suicide note recovered from the death scene, Aishwarya accused her in-laws and others of pushing her towards suicide. That day, police booked an FIR against the nine persons named, excluding Rajesh. However, after investigation, Rajesh was included as accused no. 10.

Rajesh and Aishwarya had got married in 2018. Initially, the couple lived with the family at Chandra Layout in the city, but as differences developed between Aishwarya and her in-laws, they shifted to an apartment in Nayandanahalli.
