BENGALURU: Five members of a family, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed after an ambulance jumped the median and collided with their car on KIA Expressway at Kogilu Cross, near Yelahanka, minutes past Sunday midnight.
Dipankar Dey, 42, wife Swagata Choudhury, 42, their only son Druva Dey, 14, Swagata's mother Jayathi Choudhury, 65, and her elder sister Sujaya Choudhury, 46 - all from West Bengal and residents of RT Nagar - were returning home after the departure of a flight was put off to 6.30am when the accident occurred.

Police said Sujaya, a software engineer, lived with her husband, two children and mother Jayathi in Chennai. Sujaya and Jayathi were to take the Chennai flight. Dipankar worked with a multimedia firm and Swagata was a teacher with Jain International School. Their son was a class 9 student.
Sarah Fatima, deputy commissioner of police (traffic, north), said the accident occurred around 12.30am. Dipankar and his family members went to the airport to drop Sujaya and Jayathi.
