BENGALURU: Five youngsters were arrested for allegedly assaulting the staff of a

British luxury car showroom

in southeast Bengaluru over

test-driving a Jaguar car

.

Police said the accused, Raghavendra, Santosh, Ajeeth, Anand and Vishwas, all aged between 25 and 28 and residents of localities in south Bengaluru, were employed with a builder, Bharat Reddy, who has an office in Jayanagar.

Police said Bharat recently approached the showroom in Roopena Agrahara to purchase a Jaguar car and sought a test drive. The showroom staff scheduled a

test drive

for him last week but were unable to provide the vehicle. Bharat failed to go on a test drive twice for the same reason and shared this with his employees. Five of them rushed to the showroom on Hosur Main Road around 12.45pm on Monday and demanded the test drive.

“We asked them to wait until the test-drive vehicle arrived. But they demanded a car available in the showroom. We raised doubts about their capability to purchase a Jaguar. They took Bharat Reddy’s name and started assaulting us with wooden sticks. Four of us, including me, were injured,” sales manager Vinay G said in his complaint.

“We arrested the five men and produced them before the court. They were granted bail and released on Monday itself,” HSR Layout police said.
