4 buried alive at tankbed

tumkur: at least four persons died on the spot and several others injured when the earth caved in on them while working at a tankbed in rajavanthi village, near pavagada, on monday. the victims were identified as ramanjinamma (30), devamma(28), hanumakka(14) and keshava naik (30). one ramakrishna was hospitalised at pavagada for bone fracture. police said the workers were excavating the earth and loading the same into a tractor.but when the tractor drove closer to the edge of the place below which the victims were working, the earth caved in and buried the four alive while injuring others. the pavagada police have booked a case. accident: three persons died when a tractor in which they were travelling turned upside down in the kallambella police station limits on monday night. gangamma (30) and kariyanna (40) died on the spot while another person succumbed to injuries at a hospital. the injured have been hospitalised. the kallambella police have registered a case in this regard. two of the seriously injured victims were shifted to a bangalore hospital.
