3 MLAs stage dharna in House

bangalore : jd(s) mlas n. cheluvaraya swamy, c.chenningappa and k.b.krishnamurthy staged a dharna in the legislative assembly on wednesday demanding cancellation of licence to a former legislator for setting up a distilling unit in nagamangala taluk. during question hour, cheluvaraya swamy alleged the licence was given to construct the distillery without converting agricultural land for non-agricultural purpose.rural development and panchayat minister m.y. ghorpade said the government cannot interfere into every decision of the panchayat. demanding that ghorpade give a ``direct reply,'' the three mlas marched to the well of the house. they yielded only after getting an assurance from speaker m.v. venkatappa that they will be allowed to raise the issue through a calling attention motion.
