BANGALORE: Three persons were killed and five others were injured when a sand-laden truck rammed a KSRTC bus parked by the roadside near Kuluvanahalli in Nelamangala in the wee hours of Monday.
The victims were standing near the bus that had broken down when the truck rammed the bus from behind. The three persons standing in front of the bus were run over.

Both vehicles fell into a roadside tank.
Police said, the KSRTC bound for city from Hospet had a flat tyre and passengers were waiting for a replacement vehicle when the incident took place around 6 am.
The deceased have been identified as Kadir Ahmed (42), a silk trader from Siddalghatta who was carrying over Rs 4 lakh cash, Tatoji Rao (48) and his son Prithivi Teja (18), natives of Gangavathi.
Rao was carrying over Rs 30,000 in cash. The injured were shifted to hospitals in Nelamangala and city. Bid to loot construction materials foiled: An alert security guard opened fire at dacoits and foiled their bid to loot construction material from a school under construction in Nelamangala in the wee hours of Monday.
Around 15 dacoits armed with wooden sticks barged into the compound in Rautanahalli. When the watchman Subbaiah warned them the dacoits threatened him and one of them attempted to attack Subbaiah, he fired one round in the air.

When the miscreants persisted, Subbaiah, in self defence, opened fire at the group, injuring one of them. They retreated along with their injured accomplice.
Subbaiah informed the Nelamangala police who rushed to the place and combed the area, but could not find the dacoits. A gang had looted building material from the place in January, 2005.
Police suspect the miscreants were locals and are questioning some persons from the area. Electrocuted: Faulty electricals of a water pump that had been neglected proved fatal for a 50-year-old woman and her young daughter who were electrocuted when they were washing clothes in RT Nagar on Sunday night.
Jyothi John and her daughter Mohini were washing clothes when a stream of water conducted electricity that had leaked from the water pump. The victims, residents of Rahamathnagar were killed on the spot.
They were tenants of one Mohammed and had complained several times about the faulty electricals. RT Nagar police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code Section 304(A) (negligence leading to death) against Mohammed.
Rowdy-sheeter stabbed to death: A financial dispute turned ugly after a financier was fatally stabbed by three armed miscreants in Havnur Extension in Peenya on Sunday night.
The victim, Yeshpal, a rowdy-sheeter was returning home from work,when the miscreants, later identified as Anand, Ravi and Hemanth intercepted and attacked him.
A Hoysala patrol team rushed a profusely bleeding Yashpal to MS Ramaiah Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police said a financial deal that went awry led to the murder.
