20-year-old factory staffer drowns at Singapura lake

BENGALURU: As search operations to fish out the bodies of the two actors who died at Thippagondanahalli reservoir continued for the second day , a 20-year-old factory employee drowned in Singapura Lake, 21km from the central business district, on Tuesday.
Police said Sharan Kumar, a resident of Vinayaka Nagar, was not a good swimmer. He had gone to the lake with two friends, Sri Hari, 19, and Prashanth, 20, in the morning.

“They reached the lake at 10.15am and plunged into the waters 15 minutes later. Sharan drowned in 15-foot-deep water.“
Hari and Prashanth screamed for help but people nearby couldn't help Sharan stay afloat. “They had jumped into the water together but when Sharan started drowning, the two boys tried pulling him up.When they couldn't they called out to locals,“ police said.
“We found his body at 1.40pm.We've sent it for autopsy and it will be handed over to the family later,“ police added.
