2 students drown in Bengaluru's Ramanathapura Lake, 2 missing

A jolly trip to Nandi Hills on Sunday proved costly for four city teenagers: Two of them drowned in Ramanathapura Lake near Devanahalli and the other two are also suspected to have met a watery grave.

BENGALURU: A jolly trip to Nandi Hills on Sunday proved costly for four city teenagers: Two of them drowned in Ramanathapura Lake near Devanahalli and the other two are also suspected to have met a watery grave.
Superintendent of police (Bengaluru district) Mallikarjun Baldandi said the four left Bengaluru in the morning for a picnic in Nandi Hills. They were returning to the city when they decided to play and swim near the lake around 4pm.

The teenagers were from Chamundinagar near RT Nagar and studying PU in a private college. Police suspect one of the boys did not know how to swim and started drowning. The others tried to save him and all of them may have drowned. Cops said they’ve recovered two bodies so far — those of Shahid Ismail and Faizan Khan. The two missing boys are Sheikh Tahir and Tohid Muneer.
Villagers found a bike and scooter parked at the tank bund and shoes and clothes near the vehicles.
Teen drowns in lake
A 19-year-old delivery boy who went to Mahal Chowdadenahalli lake near Anekal to catch fish drowned on Saturday morning.
Police said Gopal aka Gopi waded into the water despite not knowing to swim and drowned. His friends informed villagers and police. A rescue team from fire and emergency services swung into action on Saturday and found his body on Sunday.
