2-day-old baby stolen from Vani Vilas Hospital
Bengaluru: A two-day-old in fant was stolen from Vani Vi las Hospital in City Market o Wednesday . The baby girl' mother, Rekha Prakash, ha come to the city from Rajas than to deliver the child.
“My mother Hinya Dev was standing outside the bath room, holding the baby whe she was approached by a wom an who offered to help her. M mother asked if she coul hold the baby when she wen to the bathroom,“ said Rekha “When I came out, th woman was missing. thought she must have gone t the ward and found that th baby was missing. Later, w realized that the infant wa stolen,“ said Hinya Devi.
Police, who are checkin CCTV footage available from in and around Vani Vilas Hospital, said Rekha's parents were residents of Babusab Pa lya in Kalyan Nagar. The hospital's medical superintendent Dr Gangadhar Belavadi said Rekha had been admitted on July 13 for delivery.
Confirming the incident, he added, “It was a normal delivery. The mother suffered acute loss of blood and we arranged for transfusion. After the baby was breastfed, the mother was shifted to another ward and the infant was handed over to Hinya Devi. At 3.15pm, Hinya informed the nursing superintendent that the baby was missing,“ Belavadi told TOI.
