18 prisoners hospitalised for food poisoning

MANGALORE: Eighteen inmates of a district jail here were hospitalised on Friday with complaints of food poisoning. Of the 18, seven are accused of murder and others of dacoity and rowdyism.

MANGALORE: Eighteen inmates of a district jail here were hospitalised on Friday with complaints of food poisoning. Of the 18, seven are accused of murder and others of dacoity and rowdyism.
The jail''s 158 inmates had the same food of rice gruel, rice and sambar, but only 18 complained of food poisoning symptoms.
Police sources suspect the 18 faked food poisoning in a bid to escape.

Those admitted are: Mahesh, Lokesh Poojari, Suresh, Abdul Lateef, Ramananda, Koragappa, Jayananda Ganiga, all accused of murder. Others are Quintal Mohammed, Rajesh, Merwyn, Bhavani Shankar, Uday Raj, Raja, Shiva, Raju, Santosh, Rohit Mendon and Krishnappa Amin.
