11 new positive coronavirus cases in Karnataka; state's tally at 226

BENGALURU: Eleven new positive Covid-19 cases were reported in Karnataka on Sunday morning, taking the total number of positive cases to 226 in the state.

Of the 11 new cases, three are from

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike

(BBMP) limits in Bengaluru, four from Belagavi, 2 from

Kalaburagi

and one each from Mysuru and Vijayapura. This is the first case to be reported in Vijayapura. With this, 19 districts in Karnataka have now reported positive cases.

Vijayapura’s first case is of a 60-year-old female patient with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).

In Mysore, a 32-year-old male patient linked to the

Nanjangud pharma

company cluster tested positive on Sunday morning. In Bengaluru, a 58-year-old male patient with travel history to Indonesia and who returned to India on March 21, a 75-year-old female and a 76-year-old male patient with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) tested positive, on Sunday morning.

A 38-year-old female and a 24-year-old female patient-both contacts of the fifth fatality in the state, the 65-year-old male patient from Kalaburagi who succumbed to the infection on April 7, tested positive on Sunday morning, taking the total number of active cases in Kalaburagi to 8. In Raibagh, Belagavi, three contacts of the 41-year-old female patient who attended the single source event tested positive on Sunday- this includes a 19-year-old, a 55-year-old and a 25-year-old male patient. In Hirebagewadi in Belagavi, a 38-year-old male, a contact of an attendee of the single source event tested positive on Sunday.

The state has reported 4 deaths and 47 patients have recovered and been discharged, till date.
