BAREILLY: Police have registered a case in Meerut against YouTuber Shadab Jakati with a large online following after a woman filed a complaint alleging rape, officials said on Friday.
Superintendent of Police (rural) Abhijeet Kumar said, "The case has been registered under Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita section 64 (rape).
An investigation is underway, and further action will depend on the evidence collected," he said.
Jakati, who has around 4.7 million followers on social media, has denied the allegations.
In a video posted online, he claimed the allegations were false and motivated. He said the woman had approached him seeking help and that he supported her on humanitarian grounds, including assistance related to her child's education and daily needs.
