Ramwati

, a resident of

Naurangabad village

, was sitting outside her house when the animal tossed her in the air. She sustained multiple fractures and was rushed to a hospital, where she died. So far, at least 10 people have died in the bull attacks in Lakhimpur Kheri district alone this year.

Chandrakant Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Maigalganj police station, told TOI, “The woman was killed by a

raging bull

in Naurangabad village. The autopsy on the body was conducted on Tuesday. Its report will be sent to district administration for further action. The administration will take a call on the compensation. No FIR has been registered as the accused is an animal which cannot be penalized under IPC.”

The other death was reported from Pilibhit’s Jahanabad area. Puran Lal (70) was attacked by a bull when he was going to his field outside village on Tuesday morning. He was rushed to district government hospital in Pilibhit, where he breathed his last a few hours later.

Village head Santosh Kumar said, “The bull is extremely furious and it has attacked several people in the past. Villagers had trapped and released it over 5kms away a few days ago. But it returned.”

SDM of Pilibhit Sadar, Vandana Trivedi, told TOI that the kin of the deceased will be given a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from agriculture produce marketing committee (APMC) in addition to Rs 4lakh under Kisan Bima Durghatna Yojana provided he was revenue title holder of agricultural land.
