Woman dies after ‘botched’ C-section; hospital raided, OT sealed

Pilibhit: A private hospital in Puranpur tehsil was raided by health department officials on Wednesday evening after the death of a 35-year-old pregnant woman following an alleged botched caesarean delivery. The operation theatre was sealed, and the hospital management was asked to produce all required documents within two days.Officials found no qualified doctors present during the raid and could not verify the degrees of those listed as empanelled in hospital records. The woman's family alleged the surgery was conducted by a BAMS-qualified doctor instead of a gynaecologist.Her condition worsened after the procedure, and she was referred to Bareilly, where she died shortly after admission on Tuesday morning.Dr Manish Raj Sharma, medical officer in charge of Puranpur CHC, said while the hospital produced a registration certificate, it was being investigated whether genuine medical experts were actually employed. He assured stern punitive action against the management and the doctor involved if medical norms were violated.
