BAREILLY: A school principal was shot dead in broad daylight while he was on his way to school in UP’s Moradabad. A video of the incident has surfaced, showing the principal walking towards the school when two assailants on a motorcycle approached from behind and shot him in the head. The attackers fled the scene after the crime.
As soon as the principal was shot, he fell facedown. People nearby took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident occurred in the Lakdi area under the limits of Majhola police station.
Shabab Hasan was a principal of Sai Vidya Mandir School which is owned by BJP's city president Shammi Bhatnagar.
SP City Ranvijay Singh who rushed to the spot after getting information about the murder said, “The incident happened around 9.am. Two attackers on a bike came close and shot him in the head. The motive for the incident is still unclear.”
Sources in police said that a female student from the same school had committed suicide four months ago. In that case, an FIR was filed against Shabab as the girl’s family accused him of torturing their daughter.
The police are also investigating whether the murder is related to the suicide case. They are searching for the attackers using CCTV footage.
Moradabad's SP Satpal Antil has formed five teams to investigate the incident. Separate teams have been set up to work with the SOG, surveillance team, and to review CCTV footage. The SSP has instructed officers to arrest the perpetrators involved in the incident as soon as possible.
