Bareilly: On the 25th anniversary of Babri mosque demolition, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) conducted special prayers at Tribrinath temple in Bareilly on Wednesday evening for wisdom (sadbuddhi) of Congress leader and senior lawyer representing various Muslim bodies in the Supreme Court case Kapil Sibal and others. Celebrating the occasion as Shaurya Diwas, VHP members burst fire crackers in the evening.
Similarly, Bhartiya Hindu Sena demanded that Ayodhya should be declared as a national place. “Apart from constructing the Ram temple, the government should take initiative for development of the city,” said Amit Rathore, state chief of the organisation.
Pawan Arora, city president of VHP, said, “Hundred members (of VHP) recited the Hanuman Chalisa 108 times so that Kapil Sibal and other people stop protesting against the construction of the temple of Lord Ram. Sunni Waqf Board and the minority community want the Supreme Court to postpone the hearing of the case.”
Meanwhile, observing the day as a black day, many Muslim organisations associated with Dargah Aala Hazrat sent a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind demanding the construction of a mosque at the disputed site. They also demanded that they should be allowed to offer prayers at the site like the other community.
Meanwhile, Muslim organisations observed the demolition anniversary as a black day. Maulana Ahsan Raza Qadri, sajajdanasheen of Dargah Aala Hazrat and president of Tahreek-e-Tahaffuz Sunniat (TTS), in his memorandum to President Kovind demanded action against those involved in the demolition of the Babri mosque in 1992. “We want to ban people from celebrating the day as Shaurya Diwas. Muslims should be allowed to offer prayers at the disputed site. A committee headed by a retired judge should be constituted to probe the riots that took place following the demolition of the Babri mosque. Families of Muslims who were killed in the riots should be given compensation,” wrote Ahsan Raza Qadri in his memorandum to the President.
Maulana Adnan Raza Qadri, who belongs to the Aala Hazrat family and who is national president of Raza Action Committee said, “We have been giving memorandum for the past 25 years to demand legal action against those who demolished the mosque. They should be put in jail and Muslims should be given justice.”
