Valuables worth Rs 1 lakh stolen from locked house

worth Rs 1 lakh from a house which was locked for 15 days on Friday morning. The incident happened at

Jogendra Nagar colony

under Subhash Nagar police station. According to police, the thief first locked the main gates of two adjoining houses so that neighbours could not come out while they were stealing. An FIR has been lodged against unidentified accused.


Hareesh Chandra Joshi, SHO Subhashnagar, said, “Kalpana Kulshrestha, a 55-year-old widow lives alone at her house. About 15 days ago, she went to her daughter Monika’s in-laws’ house in Hyderabad. On Friday morning, when she returned, she was shocked to see the door open. Soon, realising that some unidentified thief had allegedly stolen valuables worth Rs 1 lakh from the house, she informed the police.”

“It is suspected that the accused was known to the family as he or she was aware about the house and family members. There might be involvement of more than one person in the theft. We are probing the matter,” Joshi further said.

“Following the complaint filed by the victim against the unidentified accused, an FIR has been lodged under the sections 380 (Theft in dwelling house, etc) and 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) of IPC,” Joshi added.
