Two dead, 6 hurt in road accident on NH-24

SHAHJAHANPUR

: Two engineering students were killed when a speeding mini truck rammed a tractor-trolley, which in turn hit a car and a bicycle on National Highway 24 on

Thursday afternoon

in Tilhar.


While the two students, who were returning home on their bicycle, died on the spot, six people on the tractor-trolley were also injured as the vehicle overturned after being hit by the mini truck.

The injured were taken to the community health centre in Tilhar and were later referred to the district hospital in Shahjahanpur.

An FIR has been registered against the driver of the mini truck who managed to flee from the spot with his vehicle. He has been booked under IPC section 304A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving). The nearby police check-posts were alerted to track the mini truck by SHO of Tilhar police station Ashok Pal.

The deceased were identified as 22-year-old Anuj Kumar, a B-Tech student and Shailandra Kumar (21). Both were returning home on a cycle when the accident took place.

, identified as Raju Kumar, 50, and Pradeep Kumar, 31, received grievous injuries.

The mini truck had also hit a car which fell into a pit, injuring its driver, Prateek Garg, and co-passengers Arpit Garg, his wife Radha Garg and his 15-day-old son.

Ashok Pal said, “The two college students died in this accident while six were reported injured. The driver of the mini truck whose negligence led to this accident is on the run with his truck but we will arrest him soon. The bodies were sent for postmortem.”
