court on Saturday sentenced two brothers of life imprisonment for killing a woman in May 2006. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each on them.

The brothers, who had enmity with the victim’s husband, had shot dead the woman.
According to the FIR lodged on April 4, 2006, Devendra

, a resident of Gulariya town area under

Musajhag

police station in Badaun district, stated there was a rivalry between him and the convicts — Omveer and Ramveer.

Singh in his police complaint had alleged that due to their enmity, the convicts shot dead Premavati, the wife of his younger brother, on the intervening night of May 2 and 3 in 2006.

Officiating district government counsel

Mukesh Babu Yadav

said, “After around 12 years of Premavati’s murder, the court of additional district judge-3 on Saturday sentenced Omveer and Ramveer of life imprisonment. The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 each on the brothers. In addition to the life imprisonment, Ramveer also got rigorous imprisonment for three years.”
