Security tightened in border areas near Pilibhit after Delhi blast
Pilibhit:Police and Sashastra Seema Bal in Pilibhit have tightened security at the Indo-Nepal and Uttarakhand borders following an explosion in New Delhi on Monday, which resulted in fatalities and injuries.
They also launched intensive search and security operations at public places, including railway and bus stations, hospitals, religious places, hotels, malls and highway crossings.
SP, Abhishek Yadav, conducted a search operation at Pilibhit railway junction on Monday night. He was accompanied by ASP, Vikram Dahiya, circle officer Deepak Chaturvedi, and a heavy police force. They checked the railway platforms, train bogies and passengers.
Dog squads have been deployed to sniff out any unwanted material in passengers' luggage. Day and night patrolling along the 54-km Indo-Nepal border, between border pillar numbers 17 and 28 within the district, has been intensified in active coordination with the SSB.
Yadav said, "All police stations across the district, especially Hajara and Madhotanda, which oversee the Indo-Nepal border area, have been kept on high alert with instructions to keep a tight vigil on the border and the suspects. The police are also coordinating with forest forces to intensify patrols in Lagga Bagga forest pocket of Barahi forest range, which is contiguous to Nepal's Shuklaphanta Wildlife Sanctuary."
"We are also in constant touch with our Nepalese counterparts for the prompt exchange of information about any suspected activity at the border," he added.
