MORADABAD: A prisoner suffering from cancer died in
Moradabad district jail. On Saturday morning, the accused Nanhe’s (42) condition deteriorated and he was sent to the district hospital where he was declared brought dead, the officials said.
A resident of Jatav Wali Basti, Bangla village, Nanhe was arrested in 2017 for allegedly killing his 15-year-old daughter during a heated argument with his wife Reena.
He was diagnosed with cancer in jail and undergoing treatment at the district hospital. For further treatment, he was also sent to Meerut Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi.
According to senior jail superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma, “The accused was discharged from Safdarjung Hospital on March 19. Since then, he was being treated at a hospital within the jail premises. His condition suddenly worsened on Saturday at around 8:55am. He was rushed to the district hospital but died on the way. The body was handed over to the family after the autopsy.”
