Pilibhit: Pilibhit is set to get a District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) to support children up to six years of age, with a 6,500 sq ft plot identified for the facility at Autonomous State Medical College. Parents of affected children will also receive guidance and counselling to help manage developmental challenges. The centre will run awareness programmes on early diagnosis and coordinate with schools to support inclusive education.
Dr Sangeeta Aneja, principal of the college, said a proposal for Rs 2.64 crore was sent to the state medical administration on Saturday after approval from the district magistrate. “The centre will offer screening and assessment to detect developmental delays, along with therapies such as speech, occupational and physiotherapy,” she said.
The DEIC scheme was launched under the National Health Mission in 2014. Aneja said the state medical administration will decide the details of the building layout, implementing agency, and timeline.
