Officials begin survey for Choupla-Ayub Khan flyover, work to commence soon

BAREILLY: The Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation (UPSBC) has begun conducting surveys in the city for the construction of flyover connecting Ayub Khan to Choupla area.
According to the UPSBC, the flyover will be a two-lane, starting at City Station road near Choupla area and ending at Post Mortem House, which is adjacent to Chowki crossing.
The flyover will have one branch in the middle going towards Ayub Khan while another will be connecting to the existing Choupla flyover, officials said.

Officials at the UPSBC said a detailed project report (DPR) for the upcoming flyover is being prepared and it is expected to be completed by this month.
Speaking to TOI, UPSCB assistant engineer, Om Prakash said, “The corporation recently began conducting survey of the Ayub Khan and Choupla road. The cost of the flyover project has been estimated to be Rs 59.65 crore. The amount has been sanctioned and the construction will begin soon after the modalities of the project are finalised.”
The engineer added that the proposed flyover is expected to cut traffic at Choupla junction
A resident and who owns a shop at Civil Lines, RS Agarwal, said, “At present, the vehicles coming from Quila, Civil Lines, Ayub Khan, and Chowki crossing get stuck due to massive traffic jams at Choupla junction. The congestion has become a common site at Choupla due to the faulty design of the existing flyover that connects Bareilly to Badaun road. Now that the authorities are planning to construct a new flyover, it is hoped that there will be some respite from traffic snarls,” said
