NRI murder: ADJ court to hear case against victim's wife and friend

SHAHJAHANPUR: A case of murder under IPC section 302 was committed against British citizen Ramandeep Kaur and her friend Gurpreet Singh alias Miththu in the court of ADJ-5 Ehsanullah Khan here on Thursday. Ramandeep was arrested for murdering her husband Sukhjeet Singh with the help of Miththu. It will hear the case on February 9.
The accused have also applied for bail in Allahabad High Court.

The date for hearing the case has been fixed for February 6.
The murder of Sukhjeet Singh, an NRI who had come on a holiday with his wife and kids in the country, had sent shock waves across the city. He was brutally killed in his house at Basantapur village under Banda police station on September 2. Investigation revealed that his wife and his close friend Gurpreet were allegedly involved in the murder. While his wife was arrested here, Gurpreet was caught at the IGI airport in Dehli while he was trying to flee the country. Police claimed to have recovered the murder weapon.
Earlier, bail applications of both Ramandeep and Miththu were rejected in the court of CJM and district judge in Shahjahanpur. Now, Ramandeep has applied for bail in the high court. Sukhjeet’s family has decided to oppose the bail plea.
