Now, women protest against Nida Khan for defaming clerics family
BAREILLY: In yet another twist to the Nida Khan episode, scores of protesting women submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate and the
They also demanded that legal action be taken against Nida for lodging a fake case against her former husband's family, who belong to family of Aala Hazrat here. Nida, however, claimed that the protest was stage managed at the behest of her former husband's family.
The protesting women claimed that Nida has defamed the family of clerics and that she was married by her parents against her wishes with a man “wearing skull cap and sporting a long beard”.
The women who gathered at the collectorate said that they are followers of Aala Hazrat and that the false allegation levelled by Nida against her former in-laws has hurt their sentiments. The protesting women claimed that they do not belong to the family of clerics but have decided to take up the matter with senior government officials as they were tired of reading "misleading" media reports about the family of clerics.
Sabra (who uses only her first name), a resident of Biharipur, said, “I was Nida’s neighbour and had seen her many times alone on the terrace of their house and talking on her mobile phone. It was evident that she never wanted to marry a man with a long beard and wearing a skull cap, but her family forced her to get married. She levelled false allegations against her in-laws to end her marriage.”
A resident of Shehdana, Saba Khan said, “We all are followers of Aala Hazrat family, which provide food to the poor and also helps in solemnising marriage of poor girls. We cannot believe that such a family will keep their daughter-in-law hungry and misbehave with her. She had wrongly accused her in-laws of assaulting her and causing miscarriage.”
Nida, however, claimed that her former husband's family staged the protest to prove her wrong. “The mother of my former husband had asked these women to hold a protest. If they (Nida's former in-laws) can send women to stage a protest against me, they can also send goons to harm me. They are also putting pressure on the police and the administration in this case, but I will continue to fight for justice. Besides, my family and I were aware about the family, I had no objection with skull cap and long beard.”
Nida was divorced by Sheeran Raza Khan, nephew of the head of the seminary Subhan Raza Khan. Nida had moved court in June this year demanding an FIR against her husband and in-laws for assaulting her and causing a miscarriage. Police, in its final report, gave a clean chit to the accused, after the couple was divorced.
Nida, however, claimed that she was not given a divorce in her presence and that the family used triple talaq to dodge the criminal case. She again moved court against the final report of police.
