Man offers bribe to cop, booked

PILIBHIT: A man was

booked

for allegedly offering a

bribe

to a police officer to settle his family dispute in

Pilibhit

.

According to Neuria police station SHO Naresh Kashyap, Yusuf Ali Khan, a resident of Tigadi locality in Neuria town, who currently lives in

Sitarganj

, Uttarakhand, approached him on Saturday afternoon.

“He wanted his wife to be ousted from the house with the help of police. When I told Khan that it was a family matter and should be settled down with the help of relatives and friends, he placed two currency notes of Rs 500 on my table,” said SHO.

“As offering a bribe to a policeman is an offence in accordance with law, Khan was arrested and booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act,” added SHO.

According to SHO, the incident took place in the presence of sub-inspector Jagdish Chandra Joshi and constable Vipin Kumar.
