Pilibhit: A 50-year-old man was charged after a 46-year-old woman alleged that he sexually assaulted her at her home in a Pilibhit village while her husband, a farmer, was away in the fields.
As per the woman’s written complaint, the accused, a resident of the same village, barged into her house and grabbed her. When she resisted, he allegedly tried to overpower her, forcibly stripped her, and attempted to rape her.
Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her. The accused fled but allegedly threatened to kill her if she reported the incident to the police.
Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered.
The local SHO said, "The accused has been charged under BNS sections 333 (house trespass), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 74 (assault or criminal force to a woman to outrage her modesty), 76 (disrobing a woman), and 77 (voyeurism). Further investigation is underway. “
